We Had SO Much Fun at JCCH's Tanoshii Hawaiʻi Keiki Summer Camp.

In late June of this year, Ann Asakura of TEMARI was a mentor at Japanese Cultural Center’s Tanoshii Hawaiʻi Keiki Summer Camp (Fun in Hawaiʻi). This is a mini summer camp for kids which teaches them about Japanese cultural activities. This year was a blast!

Here are some cultural activities (from JCCH’s website):

  • Hawaiʻi plantation games

  • Gyotaku (fish printing)

  • Kendo (martial arts)

  • Musubi Workshop

  • Shibori (tie-dye)

  • Mochi Workshop

  • Origami

  • Manga

  • Aging and Empathy (respecting our kupuna)

  • Japanese Holidays in Hawaiʻi
